On my travels I like to visit well known landmarks or national parks like everyone else. But I am also on lookout for interesting views all the time and everywhere - and I won't hesitate to stop the car right here, right now (provided I am not endangering anyone or myself) to take a closer look at what I've found. Spontaneous detours are another way to find something new and interesting. We all should take more of them.
When I started learning photography I came across a quote that stuck with me: Painters start with an empty canvas and add shapes and color until they have a finished image, photographers start with a full frame and keep removing items until they have a finished image. In every picture I take I am exploring how far I can take the idea of removing items and thereby find the essence of the scene I am looking at.
Sometimes I succeed, more often I don't. These are examples of where I feel that I have succeeded.
